Breaking News, August 4, 2009: From now until August 31st, you'll get 4 free Livescribe dot notebooks when you buy a Pulse smartpen from Livescribe.com plus FREE shipping.
Amazing…simply amazing! Awarded “Best of Show” at MacWorld 2009, the Livescribe Pulse SmartPen records “everything you write and hear so you never miss a word.” For $149 for the pen comes with 1 GB of memory (approx. 100 hours of record time), an infrared camera to record what you write, a microphone to record lectures (or whatever!), a speaker to listen to what you’ve recorded (or use the audio jack for a headset-included), a USB dock/charging station so it can connect and download your notes to Mac or PC and, oh yes, ink cartridges (replacement 5 paks are $5.95).
Although it does require a special dot paper to work, there are instructions on the website about how to print your own on regular printer paper. Once you transfer your notes to your compute with the included USB cable and you’ll be able to search your notes and/or playback what you’ve written/recorded.
Once you've recorded your information, it can be uploaded to the Livescribe website. Take a look at some of the examples of how Livescribe is being used by teachers and students.
Paper might even become useful to me with this incredible tool! I am always losing notes in piles on my desk or forgetting which notebook I had with me when I took them. I always said if I could find a tool that could search my paper, I would have it made. I think I just found it!
